Because you can enter posts in HTML, it is possible to semi-automate blog posts of catalogue data, by creating a report from the cataloguing software in exactly the format you want. For example, here is the form I use for items with URLs:

The title field is a hyper-text link to the text of the document (see here for live blog entry).
